Family Stories

Where did we come from?

This is one of the most common questions that other family members ask and my answer is unfortunately "I don't know".  The earliest documented record we have of our Carr family is Jonathan Jackson Carr born (according to census records) in approximately 1780 in Kentucky.  Jonathan bought land in Morgan County, Ind in 1834 but moved up to Iowa before 1840.  The Cumberland County Carr family is descended from his son John Carr b May 21, 1804.

We can claim some Irish blood, Elizabeth Little (born 1850) married John Donley. Elizabeth's father John was born in Ireland (ca 1830). So enjoy St. Patrick's day!

Are the fish biting?

Another common question in our family.  Our Carr family has been known to travel many miles seeking the answer to this question. (For more fish pictures look in the Photo Gallery.)
